Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Act
Section 15: Medicaid Coverage of Fertility Preservation Services
This section amends the Social Security Act to ensure Medicaid coverage of fertility preservation services under Medicaid for individuals diagnosed with cancer undergoing treatment for such cancer that may lead to iatrogenic infertility.

Two additional states have passed laws establishing coverage for fertility preservation for cancer patients at risk for infertility (as of 6/20/2023):
Texas
In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott signed HB 1649 into law on June 13, 2023. This bill requires all commercial insurers (individual, small, and large group plans) to cover sperm, egg, and ovarian tissue freezing procedures for cancer patients who face the risk of iatrogenic infertility. This law will safeguard the chance of future parenthood for approximately 4.3 million Texans! More information
Louisiana
In Louisiana, Governor John Bel Edwards signed HB 186 into law on June 14, 2023. This bill requires all state regulated insurers except for Medicaid to cover sperm and egg banking for cancer patients whose treatments may cause infertility. More information
